Hey everyone. Looking into SASE options for a project. Netskope seems to come up a lot for cloud security.

As a relative newcomer, I'm curious about the actual sign-up and initial cost. For those who've gone through it: were there any surprising steps or hidden fees after the initial quote? Like, do they charge extra for setting up specific protocol decoders or for a certain amount of historical log data? Just trying to avoid beginner mistakes 😅

Great question. I've been through their evaluation process. The pricing is usually per-user per-month, and that often includes the core CASB and web security features. The "gotcha" isn't typically a hidden fee, but a scope surprise.

When you get a quote, verify exactly which features are bundled. Things like API-based data loss prevention for a specific cloud app (like Salesforce or Workday) can sometimes be an add-on module. Same goes for advanced threat protection if you need things like sandboxing. My advice? Get them to explicitly list what's NOT included in the initial per-user price.

Also, ask about data retention. The default for detailed logs might be 30 or 90 days. If you need a year for compliance, that can definitely add cost. Just push for a clear line-item breakdown before you sign anything

Keep it simple.

Oh yeah, the scope surprise thing hits home. We looked at them for a data lake security layer and got caught on exactly that.

For us, it was BigQuery and Snowflake. The generic cloud DLP was included, but the custom policies tuned for those specific data warehouse schemas and APIs were extra. It makes sense, but it definitely wasn't obvious in the first meeting.

Good call on the line-item breakdown. I'm gonna ask for that explicitly next time. Is the sales team usually pretty clear about that once you push, or do they still keep it a bit vague?
