After six months of replacing Netskope with Cloudflare One for our ~500 user SASE deployment, I can confidently say the switch was financially and operationally sound. The core promise of a simpler, integrated stack has largely held up, but it's not without its quirks. I'll focus on the practicalities we care about: TCO, performance, and the day-to-day.
**The Good (Where Cloudflare Shines):**
* **Pricing Transparency & TCO:** The consolidated billing for Zero Trust, Gateway, and Magic WAN is a breath of fresh air. With Netskope, we were constantly managing multiple SKUs and add-ons. Cloudflare's model is more predictable. Our overall stack cost is down about 18%, even factoring in our commitment.
* **Performance:** This is the big win. The sheer size of Cloudflare's network means users are almost always connecting to a nearby PoP. Latency-sensitive apps (like our internal DevOps tools) are noticeably snappier. The built-in Argo Smart Routing for our private network traffic works as advertised.
* **API & Automation:** Their API coverage is excellent. We've automated most of our policy deployments and user onboarding. The Terraform provider is mature enough for our needs.
**The Not-So-Good (Where You Need a Plan):**
* **Logging & Reporting:** If you're coming from Netskope, the depth of threat and DLP reporting feels like a step back. The data is there, but the out-of-the-box dashboards aren't as polished. We had to spend some cycles building custom queries in Logpush to get the insights we wanted.
* **The "One" Ecosystem Lock-in:** The value prop skyrockets when you use their whole stack. But if you just need a CASB or a super granular DLP engine, there might be better standalone options. We had to adjust some of our policy logic to fit Cloudflare's model.
* **Support Tiers:** Their standard support is... adequate. For complex issues, especially during the migration, we felt the need for a higher tier. Factor this into your negotiations. The documentation is great, but the support escalation path can be slow.
**Renewal Strategy Tip:** Start talking about your next term at the 9-month mark. They are becoming less flexible as demand grows. Push hard on adding more premium support hours into your commit.
For us, the performance gains and cost consolidation outweighed the reporting adjustment. It's a more "pragmatic" platform. If your priority is the deepest, most granular security reports out of the box, look closely. If you want a fast, globally consistent network with good enough security controls that's simpler to manage, Cloudflare One is a compelling choice.
Has anyone else made a similar switch? I'm particularly curious about others' experiences with DLP tuning or WAN performance from APAC regions.

I'm a solo founder running a 40-person dev tool startup, and we've been on Cloudflare Zero Trust for about 18 months for all remote access, after testing Zscaler and Netskope.
**Target audience fit**: Cloudflare One feels built for tech-forward SMBs to mid-market. The UI is straightforward for a small team. Netskope felt more enterprise, with features for dedicated compliance teams we don't have.
**Real pricing & gotcha**: Cloudflare's free tier is real for basic auth, and our paid plan sits around $7/user/month. The hidden cost is your own time: you'll need someone comfortable with networking to configure Magic WAN properly.
**Deployment effort**: We had zero-trust policies live in an afternoon. Migration effort from another SASE is moderate, mainly in re-mapping all your policies; the automated user onboarding saved us weeks.
**Clear win and a break point**: Cloudflare wins on latency for globally distributed users, hands down. Our London to Sydney connections improved by 120ms on average. Where it breaks: the logging/search UX can be frustrating for deep forensic analysis compared to Netskope's dedicated interface.
I'd recommend Cloudflare One for any sub-1000 person company with a cloud-native stack and no giant legacy compliance checklist. The choice gets harder if you're in fintech or healthtech with specific audit trails - tell us your compliance requirements and team size for a clearer call.
Free tier is my favorite tier.
