Hey everyone, I'm pretty new here but I've been lurking while we went through a big platform shift at my startup. We're a 50-person fintech, and after moving from Salesforce to HubSpot last year (a story for another time!), we're now looking at tightening up our security posture. Specifically, we need a solid DLP solution as we handle a lot of sensitive financial data.
We've narrowed it down to Cloudflare One and Netskope. I'm really drawn to Cloudflare One because it seems like it could simplify our stack—we're already using some of their other services. But Netskope keeps coming up as the "gold standard" for DLP in our space. The problem is, most reviews I find are from huge enterprises, not a scrappy startup like ours.
Has anyone here been through a similar evaluation at a smaller company? I'm especially curious about:
- The actual setup and tuning experience. How hard was it to get the DLP policies right without a massive security team?
- Real-world performance impact, especially on our devs who are constantly pushing code to GitHub and using SaaS tools.
- The true total cost. Netskope's pricing feels a bit opaque, and while Cloudflare's model seems simpler, I worry about hidden complexity costs.
Our main needs are protecting source code, securing client financial data in motion (like in emails and Slack), and preventing accidental leaks to personal cloud storage. Any lessons learned the hard way would be super appreciated. I've already had my share of migration scars from our CRM move, so I'm trying to avoid another one 😅
