Hey everyone, I've been evaluating AI notetakers for our sales team for the past quarter, and the final contenders really came down to Sembly and Grain. We're a mid-market B2B team, and I wanted to share our hands-on experience since the choice wasn't as obvious as I thought.
Our main use case is analyzing discovery and demo calls to improve coaching and spot deal risks. We needed something that integrates with our Google Meet/Zoom flow and pushes insights to Salesforce.
Here’s how they stacked up for us:
**Sembly**
* **Strengths:** The "Team Insights" dashboard is fantastic. It aggregates trends across all calls, showing us common objections or questions we're missing. The AI-generated summaries are more actionable for managers—they highlight risks and next steps clearly.
* **Gaps:** The Salesforce integration felt a bit clunky. It creates a "Meeting" object, but linking it to the right Opportunity sometimes required manual steps. Also, the speaker diarization (identifying who said what) was occasionally off in noisy recordings.
**Grain**
* **Strengths:** The clipping and sharing functionality is smoother. Our AEs love being able to instantly clip a key moment and share it in Slack or an email. The integration felt more native to our workflow. Accuracy on speaker identification was slightly better in our tests.
* **Gaps:** While great for capturing moments, the overarching analysis felt weaker. It tells you *what* was said, but Sembly did a better job telling you *what it means* for the deal. Less useful for manager-level reporting.
**Our Verdict:** We went with **Sembly**. For a mid-market team focused on improving win rates and coaching, the aggregated insights and risk-spotting were the tiebreaker. If your primary need is quick, shareable clips for enablement or marketing, Grain might be the better pick.
Has anyone else made this comparison? I'd be curious if you've found workarounds for the integration quirks.
