Just wrapped up a two-week deep dive with MeetGeek for our standup and planning meetings. I was really hoping to automate away the drudgery of writing summaries and action items. The headline result is exactly what the title says: I'm definitely spending less time typing, but I'm not fully confident in the notes it produces.
Here's the breakdown:
**The Good (Where it Shines)**
* **Speed:** The automatic recording and transcription is fantastic. Having a searchable text record of the meeting almost immediately is a huge win.
* **Structure:** I like how it attempts to break out "Key Points" and "Action Items." It gives a decent skeleton to work from.
* **Integration:** The Google Calendar sync and automatic invite handling worked flawlessly. It's very hands-off to get a meeting into the system.
**The Not-So-Good (The Quality Dip)**
* **Context is King, and AI Lacks It:** In our technical discussions, it often misattributes who said what, especially when we're debating two different approaches. The "Key Points" can become a generic soup, missing the crucial nuance of *why* we chose option A over B.
* **Action Item Ambiguity:** It's too eager to create action items. It will often turn a casual "I'll look into that" into a formal task with my name on it, sometimes with an incorrect due date inferred from the conversation.
* **Technical Term Butchering:** We talk about Kubernetes, specific CI/CD pipeline names, and code libraries. The transcription is about 95% accurate, but that 5% where it mangles a key term requires me to go back and listen to the audio to correct it.
My current workflow is now: let MeetGeek do the first pass, then I spend 5-10 minutes per meeting scrubbing the AI-generated notes, fixing technical terms, clarifying action items, and adding the critical "why" context that was lost. It's faster than writing from scratch, but it's an editing job, not a liberation from note-taking.
Has anyone else hit this balance? I'm curious if tweaking the meeting settings or using the "highlight" feature more aggressively during the call has helped others improve the output quality.
