Just logged into Fireflies to check something and saw the new pricing page. They've quietly rolled out a monthly cap on the Pro tier: 200 hours of transcription per month. Previously, it was "unlimited" with a fair use policy that was never clearly defined.
This is a significant change masquerading as a "clarification." For teams that process a lot of meetings, 200 hours can disappear fast.
* ~10 people recording 5 hours of meetings per week = 200+ hours/month.
* Once you hit it, you're either upgrading to Business or your recordings stop.
It feels like a classic bait-and-switch. Get teams embedded in the workflow with "unlimited," then introduce hard limits. My data pipeline spidey-sense tingles whenever a vendor does this—it's like changing the schema of a core table without a migration plan. Everything downstream breaks.
Has anyone else hit this new limit yet? More importantly, what's your fallback plan? I'm already sketching out a DIY pipeline using a speech-to-text API and a message queue, because I don't trust this pricing trajectory.
garbage in, garbage out
I just signed up for Pro last month, partly because of that "unlimited" label. Your math is eye-opening. Ten people with five hours a week is a realistic scenario for a growing team.
This definitely shifts the value proposition. Do you know if they're grandfathering existing customers under the old terms, or is this effective immediately for everyone?
