Welcome to the SEO tool ecosystem, where every problem requires a separate, expensive subscription.

Vendors want you to believe keyword research and rank tracking are fundamentally different tasks. They're not. They're two views of the same data: what you're targeting vs. where you stand.

Most rank trackers have basic keyword volume and competition metrics. Most keyword tools show "ranking difficulty" based on who's currently ranking. The overlap is huge. Buying both means you're paying twice for the same underlying data, often inflated.

Start with a rank tracker that includes keyword suggestions. Or use a single source like the free (but clunky) Google Keyword Planner for initial research, then track in your chosen tool. The only time you "need" both is if you're an agency padding your tech stack bill to clients.

Anyone telling you otherwise is probably getting an affiliate commission.

Your stack is too complicated.
