We're at that classic scaling point: our Semrush subscription is starting to sting for the number of tracked keywords we need (50k and growing). The core features work, but the cost per seat is hard to justify when we're mainly focused on deep e-commerce tracking.
I'm looking for practical alternatives that can handle a mid-market online store. The must-haves are:
* **Database size & accuracy:** Strong for product categories and commercial intent keywords. We need good local (US) data.
* **Rank tracking freshness:** Daily updates are ideal, especially for volatile product pages.
* **Workflow fit:** Solid site audit for large catalogs and easy reporting for our marketing team.
* **Price:** A clear cost advantage over Semrush at our scale, or a much better feature-to-price ratio.
I've done some initial digging and Ahrefs is the obvious first comparison. Their backlink data is legendary, but how does their keyword database and rank tracking for e-commerce specifically stack up? Also looking at:
* **SE Ranking** – Seems budget-friendly, but is the data robust enough for 50k keywords?
* **Serpstat** – Often praised for value. How's their US keyword coverage?
* **AccuRanker** – Super focused on rank tracking. Would we need to pair it with another tool for audits and keyword research?
Has anyone made a similar switch for a sizable e-commerce site? I'm most interested in real-world benchmarks on data accuracy and the actual total cost for our keyword volume. A cheaper tool that misses important keyword movements would be a false economy.
