I'm helping my company evaluate a new HRIS, and payroll accuracy is our top priority. We've narrowed it down to HiBob and ADP Workforce Now, but I'm struggling to find clear comparisons on this specific point.

For those who have used either, what's the real-world experience like? I'm especially curious about:
- How do they handle tax updates and compliance across different states?
- Have you run into calculation errors, and how quickly were they resolved?
- Does one platform have better built-in validation to catch mistakes before payroll runs?

I'm a customer success manager at a 300-person SaaS company, and we switched from ADP Workforce Now to HiBob about 18 months ago, running the full payroll for our US team in it.

Here's the breakdown on payroll accuracy:

1. **Target company size and maturity**: HiBob feels built for tech companies in the 150-1000 employee range that want an intuitive, all-in-one platform. ADP WFN can handle that, but its DNA is in servicing more complex, compliance-heavy businesses of any size, often through a service wrapper.

2. **Tax and compliance handling**: This is ADP's clear win. They manage all federal, state, and local tax updates automatically as part of their service. With HiBob, you're relying more on their third-party payroll engine (they partner with a processor) and while updates happen, I've had to wait a few days for confirmation on a new local tax jurisdiction. ADP is proactive; HiBob is reactive here.

3. **Error resolution speed**: When we had a calculation error in ADP (an overtime rate was misapplied), it took 3 days and several calls to get a correction processed. In HiBob, a similar off-cycle adjustment ticket was resolved in under 24 hours via chat. HiBob's support is more responsive for mid-market clients. ADP's support tiers felt built for larger accounts.

4. **Pre-payroll validation**: HiBob has better built-in guardrails for admins. It flags anomalies like a 50% salary change or a bonus over a certain percentage before finalizing. ADP has validation, but it's buried in menus and often assumed to be handled by your dedicated service rep, which you may not have on a smaller plan.

My pick is HiBob if you're a mid-sized, growing company that values speed and a clean interface, and you're okay that the underlying tax engine isn't owned by the vendor. If absolute, hands-off compliance and multi-state complexity is your non-negotiable, ADP Workforce Now is the safer choice. To make it clean, tell us your employee headcount and how many states you operate in.
