Everyone compares the UI and "employee experience." I'm looking at the invoice. Global payroll is a cost multiplier, and both platforms handle it very differently.
* **HiBob:** Often acts as a broker. You're likely paying HiBob, who then pays a local in-country provider (like ADP). This adds a markup layer. You need to audit their partner's fees too.
* **Rippling:** Their "Unity" platform tries to be the system of record everywhere. In some countries they're the direct provider, in others they use partners. Cost structure varies by region.
Key questions for your finance team:
* What's the actual per-country, per-employee fee breakdown? Is it a flat platform fee + local provider fees?
* Who holds the money for tax withholdings? What's the float cost?
* For countries where they use a partner: who is liable for errors? How are support escalations billed?
Don't get sold on a slick demo. Get the pricing annex for every country you operate in.
