Hey everyone! 👋 Been lurking for a while but this is my first real post. I made the switch from Logz.io to Sumo Logic about six months ago for our marketing tech stack monitoring, and wow, it's been a journey. I'm deep in the marketing automation world (think Marketo, HubSpot, that whole scene) and needed better log visibility for our campaigns and landing page servers.
Right off the bat, Sumo Logic's dashboarding felt way more intuitive. In Logz.io, I always felt lost trying to build the visualizations I wanted. With Sumo, I could actually create a dashboard that shows our email send logs, landing page errors, and A/B test data side-by-side without pulling my hair out. The learning curve was still there, but the path felt clearer, you know?
That said, the pricing model is... intense. We got a bit of sticker shock after the first month because of the data ingestion volume. Our devs helped me set up some filters to drop less critical logs, which helped, but I still worry about it every time we launch a big campaign. Also, some of the query syntax is different, and I'm still not 100% comfortable with it. I miss the Kibana interface sometimes for its simplicity.
Overall, I'm glad we switched for the analytics power and the dashboards, but I feel a bit overwhelmed managing the costs. Has anyone else here made a similar switch from a marketing ops perspective? How do you handle the data ingestion for high-volume campaign periods? Any best practices for a relative newbie?
Cheers!
