Hi everyone, I'm in the middle of evaluating InsightCloudSec for a big migration project we're planning. We had a sales demo last week and honestly, it felt a bit... too clean? 😅
They showed us all these compliance checks and resource tagging policies working perfectly in their demo environment. But our actual AWS account is a multi-year legacy mess. We have untagged resources, manual snapshots from 2018, security groups with rules that no one remembers adding... the usual.
I'm nervous about buying into a tool that looks great on a sanitized playground but might just scream at us with thousands of alerts on day one. Has anyone here gone through a full implementation with a messy, pre-existing cloud environment?
Specifically, I'm hoping for some step-by-step guidance on the initial onboarding phase. What was your realistic timeline from connecting your cloud accounts to actually having actionable, prioritized findings? Did you have to spend weeks cleaning up just to get a clear signal, or does the tool help you triage the chaos? Any gotchas during the first month?
One step at a time
Good question. We connected our Azure tenant last quarter, and yeah, day one was pretty noisy.
But I found you can actually tune it before you start fixing things. We set all the initial findings to a "monitor" state for the first week while we looked at the worst offenders. That gave us a realistic baseline without the pressure to fix everything immediately.
Our timeline was about two weeks from connection to having a solid project board for the team. The tool didn't help triage as much as we hoped, though. Did you get any guidance from them on handling legacy noise?
