Hi everyone. We're a small team spread across the US and Europe, and our main app runs on AWS. The built-in Perimeter 81 gateways were okay, but our devs in Germany were seeing high latency during testing.
We decided to try setting up a dedicated gateway in the AWS region closest to our core infrastructure to see if it would help. The setup in the P81 console was pretty straightforward—pick AWS, the region, and it spins up the instance.
My question is about fine-tuning after setup. Has anyone done this and found specific AWS security group rules or VPC configurations that are essential for stability? We’re not DevOps experts, so any “gotchas” you ran into would be super helpful.
Also, the latency improvement was noticeable (about 40% better pings for our EU team) but the cost is a new line item. For other startups, would you say the performance gain is worth running your own gateway versus using the shared ones?
