Anyone gone through the Netskope sign-up process? How long does it take to get started?

Alright, who's been lured in by the promise of cloud security nirvana and is now stuck in the vendor onboarding labyrinth? 🙃

I just helped a client untangle themselves from a particularly "thorough" Netskope proof-of-concept, and the timeline was... educational. It's not like spinning up an AWS service where you're billed by the second 5 minutes later. This is old-school enterprise sales motion meets cloud.

From initial contact to having traffic actually flowing through their SASE/SSE platform, expect **6 to 12 weeks** on average. Here's where the time goes:

* **The Discovery Call Vortex:** You'll have at least three separate calls: one with sales (who promises everything), one with a solutions architect (who tells you what's *actually* possible), and one with a "technical success" person. Budget 2 weeks for this dance.
* **The Quote Tango:** Their pricing is modular (SWG, CASB, DLP, RBI, etc.). Getting a final quote that matches your exact needs takes revisions. If you're looking at their "NewEdge" private backbone, that adds complexity. **Pro-tip:** Ask for the detailed SKU breakdown and map it to your projected bandwidth. Watch for commit tiers.
* **PoC/ Pilot Purgatory:** This is the big one. They'll want to set up a PoC, which involves deploying their client (if going for client-based access) and/or steering traffic through their tenants. Configuring policies, especially if you have existing DLP dictionaries, can take **3-4 weeks alone**. You're essentially building a mini production environment.

The real time-sink nobody mentions? Internal networking and security teams aligning on traffic steering. If you're using explicit proxy, PAC files, or IPSec tunnels, that's on your team's plate.

```bash
# This isn't a one-liner. It's more like:
$ git clone enterprise-security-woes
$ cd endless-meetings
$ ./configure --with-competing-stakeholders
$ make compromise
# Output: Timeline extended by 30 days.
```

So, if you're under pressure to show value quickly, start the conversation **now** and be brutally clear about your go-live expectations. Push for a dedicated technical resource early. And for the love of all that is FinOps, understand how the bandwidth commit works before you sign.

Anyone else have a war story? Did you get it done faster, or were you stuck in a longer cycle?

Yep, that timeline tracks. The 6-12 weeks is optimistic if you have any custom DLP policies or need to integrate with an existing IdP that isn't O365/Google.

> Ask for the detailed SKU breakdown

This is critical. Their "per user" pricing gets murky fast when you have contractors or shared kiosk devices. You'll pay.

Biggest time sink I've seen is the connector deployment. You think you'll just push a PAC file, but then you're dealing with firewall rules, certificate pinning, and troubleshooting asymmetric routing. That's where weeks 4-8 go.
