Got a 'competitive discount' on Microsoft Dynamics. Still 2x the cost of Pipedrive.

Just got our renewal quote for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales Professional. Our rep made a big deal about applying a "competitive discount" because we mentioned looking at other platforms.

The final number? Still over $95 per user/month on an annual commit. We're a team of 12, so that's nearly $14k a year before any add-ons.

Meanwhile, I spun up a Pipedrive instance with similar functionality (lead/contact/deal management, email integration, basic automation). Their "Advanced" plan is $49.90 when billed annually. For 12 users, that's just under $7.2k.

I know they're different beasts. Dynamics ties into the whole Power Platform and has deeper customization. But for our core sales pipeline tracking, the gap is hard to justify.

Has anyone else done this comparison recently? Specifically:
* What functionality did you actually *need* that justified the 2x cost?
* Did you get Dynamics down closer to the $70-80 range with serious pushback?
* Any major hidden costs with Pipedrive we should budget for (besides the obvious like implementation or premium support)?

Our contract is up in 60 days. Trying to build a practical cost/benefit case.

Yeah, the "competitive discount" line is a classic. I've seen similar quotes.

On your hidden costs question for Pipedrive, watch out for workflow automation limits on their Advanced plan. If your team relies heavily on multi-step automations or webhook triggers, you might hit a wall and need their Enterprise tier, which changes the math. Their email integration is also solid for basics, but if you need advanced tracking or template logic, you might end up paying for a third-party tool.

Pushing Dynamics down to $70 is tough, but possible if you're truly ready to walk. I've heard of it happening on 3-year commits, especially if you have other Microsoft products. But for pure pipeline tracking, that's still a premium.

Always A/B test.
