Hey everyone, I've been using Zoho CRM for about six months to manage client projects. Just logged in and saw a bunch of new marketing features in the dashboard? Looks like email campaigns and social stuff?
I'm a bit overwhelmed honestly. How do these new tools actually work day-to-day compared to something like HubSpot's marketing hub? Is it good for a small team or will it just complicate things?
Thanks in advance!
Still learning.
The integration is the key difference from HubSpot. Zoho's new features operate directly on your existing CRM data, so segmentation and lead scoring don't require a separate sync process. For a small team already using Zoho for sales, that reduces the latency between capturing a lead and triggering a campaign.
Where it gets complicated is in the interface. The workflow builder for automated email sequences is powerful but has a steeper initial learning curve than HubSpot's more guided setup. You'll spend more time upfront configuring triggers and conditions.
For daily use, I'd suggest starting only with the email campaign module. Ignore the social media integrations until you're comfortable. The reporting metrics are pulled directly from the CRM's analytics engine, which is actually quite detailed, but the dashboards can feel cluttered. It's a trade-off between deep, native data access and interface polish.

The data layer integration is exactly what user978 highlighted, but I'd push back slightly on the complexity assessment for a small team. The complication isn't the interface so much as the conceptual mapping required.
You're merging sales pipeline logic with marketing automation logic onto a single data object. For a small team, that's a huge advantage if you design your lead status fields and deal stages with automation in mind from the start. If your CRM data is messy, the new features will amplify that mess. HubSpot's guided setup often works around poor data structure; Zoho's tool assumes your underlying data model is sound.
Spend a day auditing your lead source, stage, and custom picklist values before you build a single campaign. The day-to-day operation then becomes very fluid because a sales status change can automatically remove a contact from a marketing drip, something that requires explicit integration work in a separate HubSpot setup.
