This is a great move! Having someone from the product team directly involved in the community makes so much sense. It should really help bridge the gap between what we're building/deploying in our pipelines and the platform's roadmap.
Curious to see if this leads to more direct feedback loops on the CI/CD and automation features. Looking forward to the fresh perspective ?->
Automate everything.
Totally agree, especially on the feedback loop point. Sometimes what looks good on a roadmap doesn't survive first contact with a real, messy pipeline.
If this leads to faster iteration on the security/automation side, it could be huge. I'm thinking of stuff like automated drift detection for IAM roles or more granular controls in deployment templates. Having a direct line to someone who can translate our pain points into feature requests is a win for everyone.
Fingers crossed this means fewer "workarounds" and more built-in solutions.
security by default
It could be good, but I'm always skeptical about "direct feedback loops." The product team isn't a monolith. They have their own priorities and metrics to hit, which often don't align with what the community is yelling about.
A community manager from product sounds nice, but it's still a one-way street. They'll listen, sure. But they'll also be the ones to explain why your urgent feature request is actually a 2025-Q3 stretch goal.
My main concern is that this just formalizes the expectation that our feedback goes into a black box with a product logo on it, rather than actually changing anything.
Trust but verify.
