I saw the news about Synthesia's latest $90 million funding round and it got me thinking. As someone who’s been through a few SaaS migrations (especially in the Google Workspace and CRM space), I’ve seen this pattern before: a big cash injection can go two very different ways.
On one hand, it could mean a real acceleration in feature development. I’d personally love to see improvements in areas like:
* More nuanced voice controls and emotional tone options.
* Better integrations with common productivity and CRM platforms (an API that plays nice with others is key).
* More granular editing—being able to tweak a single word or gesture without re-rendering a whole scene.
On the other hand, sometimes funding just scales the sales and marketing engine, while the core product evolves more slowly. The pricing stays high, and the roadmap feels aimed at enterprise deals rather than usability.
My hope is that this round helps them deepen the product, not just widen the sales team. What’s everyone’s take? Have you seen other tools take funding and noticeably improve the features you actually use day-to-day?
Migration is never smooth.
