Alright, I've been deep in Synthesia for the past quarter, using it primarily for internal training and process documentation in my RevOps team. I was skeptical about the "time-saving" claims, so I tracked everything. Here's my real-world breakdown.

We produced 47 videos, averaging about 4 minutes in length. The primary use case was replacing our old method of recording Loom videos for every new CRM workflow or Salesforce update. That used to involve scripting, multiple takes, and editing time. With Synthesia, the time shifted. We now spend more effort upfront on the script and slide assets, but the "recording" phase is eliminated. Our team saved an estimated 1.5 hours per video in recording and re-recording time. That's over 70 hours of saved productivity, which is huge.

On cost, it's interesting. Our plan is the "Starter" tier. When you break down the per-video cost based on our usage, it came out to roughly $35 per video. That might sound high compared to a "free" Loom, but you have to factor in the saved hours at fully burdened salaries. For us, the consistency and the ability to easily update a script and generate a new version without another recording session is the real win. It also integrates nicely into our knowledge base.

The quality is good enough for internal use. The avatars work, though we stick to a couple of consistent ones to avoid the "uncanny valley" discussions. The biggest learning curve was writing for the AI presenter—more concise, clearer pacing instructions. I'm curious if others have done similar cost-benefit math, especially those using it for customer-facing content? The ROI seems very use-case dependent.

That's super helpful, thanks for sharing the numbers. The cost per video seems high at first glance, but >70 hours of saved productivity< is massive. I'm curious, do you find the upfront script and slide work takes longer now? Or is it about the same as before, just focused differently?

I'm looking at similar tools for onboarding docs and this makes a strong case. The consistency part really appeals to me.
