Okay, so I’ve been bouncing between Opus Clip, Descript, and a few other AI clipping tools for my team’s sales call recordings. My process is… maybe weird?
I find I get *drastically* better clips if I go into the transcript **first** and do some light editing **before** I let the AI do its magic. I'm talking about:
* Deleting off-topic rambles or internal jargon (we have a lot of acronyms)
* Fixing any glaring transcription errors, especially product names
* Sometimes even adding a short, clear sentence to summarize a key point if the speaker was meandering
If I don’t do this, Opus sometimes grabs a clip where the hook is a bit confusing because the transcription misheard a crucial word, or it picks up a segment where we're deep in the weeds on something irrelevant.
It adds maybe 5-10 minutes to my workflow, but the output is way more usable for social posts. It feels like I’m “prompting” via the transcript itself.
Is anyone else doing this, or am I over-engineering it? I’m curious if other serial CRM/ tool-switchers have found a similar hack. Maybe it’s a habit from tweaking automation workflows in HubSpot or Salesforce—always wanting to clean the data before it hits the next step.
