Hey everyone, new to the Opus Clip scene and honestly, a bit hesitant to dive in headfirst. Here's my deal: I've been burned before by handing over login credentials to a shiny new tool that promised the moon. Remember that time I tried to connect a "revolutionary" social scheduler that required full YouTube access? Let's just say the migration *out* of that mess was a week-long saga of revoked tokens and paranoid security audits. Not fun.
So, I'm doing my due diligence this time around. The concept of Opus Clip is super appealing for repurposing my longer sales process explainer videos into shorts. But the very first step is asking for my YouTube login. My spidey-sense is tingling.
* **Is there any kind of trial or demo that doesn't need full channel access?** Maybe uploading a video file directly?
* Can you use a test or dummy YouTube account just to see the output quality?
* What exactly are the permissions it's asking for? Is it read-only, or does it need to publish?
I'm not against connecting things permanently once I'm sold—my RevOps stack is a tangled web of integrations at this point (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, you name it, I've probably tried to pipe data into it). But I've learned the hard way that you should always test the output and the workflow *before* you give a tool the keys to the kingdom. The data-migration PTSD is real, folks.
Would love to hear from anyone who's been through this initial onboarding. What was your experience? Did you find a safe way to kick the tires?
