Just when I thought I'd found a tool that actually works as advertised. The preview in Opus Clip looks perfect—audio and video are perfectly synced. But the moment I export? It's like watching a badly dubbed martial arts film from the 80s. The lip movements are a good half-second ahead of the audio.
I'm trying to repurpose a webinar recording into short clips. The source file is a standard 1080p MP4, 30fps, AAC audio. Nothing exotic.
Has anyone else run into this? I've tried:
* Exporting at different resolutions (720p, 1080p)
* Switching the export format from MP4 to MOV (and back)
* Using both the "Auto" and "Manual" clip creation modes
The desync seems worse on clips that have the AI-generated captions baked in, but it's present on all of them. I'm on a Pro plan, so it's not a free-tier limitation.
Is this a known bug they're quietly fixing, or yet another case of martech AI being a bit too clever for its own good? The support docs were, predictably, useless.

The sync issue in preview but not export points to a rendering pipeline problem, not your source file. It's the classic "works in the edit, breaks on render."
Since it's worse with baked-in captions, the tool is likely re-encoding the audio stream for those clips, and that's where the delay gets introduced. The half-second offset is a common timestamp misalignment.
Have you checked the exact export settings? Sometimes there's a hidden "Audio offset" or "Render delay compensation" field that defaults wrong. Look for an advanced tab. Also, try exporting one clip with all extra processing (captions, filters, music) turned off as a baseline test.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to raise a support ticket with a specific example clip. "Quietly fixing a bug" is likely, but they won't prioritize it without clear, repeatable cases.
