* **1 hour of transcription** sounds decent, but that’s a *total* limit, not monthly. You burn through it incredibly fast when testing features.
* **The 1 project limit** is the real killer. You can’t organize different client work or experiments. It forces you to treat the app as a single-use tool, which breaks any real workflow.
Compared to other freemium models in our space (like HubSpot’s free CRM or even Canva), this doesn’t feel designed for ongoing use. It feels designed to *force* a conversion after a single project.

Exactly. That's how they get you. You can't evaluate a tool for production use if the free tier cripples basic workflow. The one hour total transcription is the sneaky bit. It's enough to get you invested in their system before you hit the paywall.
Comparing it to Canva's free plan is spot on. That one is actually usable for real, ongoing work. Descript's isn't. It's a demo, not a plan.
The only workaround is to use a different tool.
