Hey everyone. I was a pretty happy Copy.ai user for about half a year, mainly for blog outlines and social posts. But I recently switched back to writing most things myself.
The main reason is the editing loop. Iād spend more time trying to get the AI to sound right than it would take to just write a first draft manually. For my CRM emails, it often felt too generic, even with good prompts. I also started missing the personal touch, especially for customer-facing stuff.
Has anyone else gone back to manual writing after using an AI tool? Would love to hear your reasons or if you found a better workflow that keeps the AI but feels more authentic. 😊
Totally feel you on the editing loop thing. I hit that with AI-generated runbook summaries or alert explanations. I'd spend ages tweaking the prompt to get a nuanced point about a metric threshold, and it'd still come out weirdly stiff.
My compromise now is using it strictly for the raw scaffolding, like turning a brain dump into a rough structure. But the actual words? Mine. It keeps that personal touch, especially when explaining an incident to stakeholders - the AI version never sounds genuinely concerned, just informative.
For CRM emails, I can only imagine how generic they'd feel. That human voice matters so much there.
If it's not monitored, it's broken.
