Hi everyone! I've been lurking here for a while, learning so much from all your posts about Airflow and dbt. 😅 Now I need to ask about something a bit different from my usual pipeline woes.
My company’s marketing team (about 50 people) is moving off of a chaotic mess of spreadsheets and email chains for campaign tracking. They've asked me, as the "data person," to help evaluate Asana and Monday.com. The main thing is they have *really* complex dependencies—think asset creation needs final approval before it can go to the design team, which then blocks the social media schedule, which then... you get the idea.
I've been tasked with comparing the two, but honestly, I'm a bit overwhelmed looking at the marketing pages. I'd love to hear from anyone who has actually used either (or both!) in a similar setting.
Some specific things I'm trying to figure out:
* **Dependency Chains:** How intuitive is it to set up and visualize "Task B can't start until Task A is approved"? Can you easily see the ripple effect of a delay?
* **Automations:** For a team this size, saving manual clicks is huge. Which platform has more powerful or flexible "if this, then that" rules without needing a developer?
* **Reporting:** They need to show progress to leadership. How good are the built-in dashboards for tracking project health, bottlenecks, and resource load?
* **Pricing Gotchas:** We're looking at the mid-tier plans. Are there any big features (like the dependency view or advanced reporting) locked behind the enterprise tier?
I tried sketching out a sample workflow in a trial of both, but I keep hitting walls. I can share some screenshots of what I tried to build if that helps! Mostly, I just don't want to recommend something that will become another problem for me to fix later.
