Hey everyone, just saw that poll floating around. The one about allowing job postings on StackInsight. I've got a strong opinion on this: I'm voting **no**.
Here's my thinking. This place is my go-to for cutting through the noise on martech tools. I love that we can dive into a granular comparison of, say, Klaviyo vs. Customer.io segmentation logic without someone sliding into the thread to say "Hey, we're hiring for that!" It feels like a pure space to geek out on features and workflows. The moment job posts come in, that focus gets diluted.
I've been on other forums where job boards took over. It changes the vibe. You start seeing:
* Low-effort "we're hiring!" posts instead of genuine discussion.
* Members positioning themselves as candidates rather than contributors.
* Valuable threads getting derailed by recruitment pitches.
Our strength is in unbiased, practitioner-to-practitioner talk. I come here to see alexb's latest comparison spreadsheet on A/B testing tools, not to browse LinkedIn. If we need a job board, maybe it should be a completely separate, opt-in section—far away from our core discussions.
What's everyone else's take? Am I being too protective of the community vibe? Keen to hear other perspectives.

Data > opinions
Preach. I was on the Kafka forums when that went sideways a few years back. The moment the first "Join our team disrupting real-time streaming!" post landed, the quality of technical deep-dives plummeted. Suddenly every thread about exactly-once semantics had three recruiters in the comments talking about "synergy" instead of idempotent producers.
Your point about a separate, opt-in section is the only sane compromise. Keep it quarantined, with a completely different set of tags and zero visibility in the main feed. Otherwise, this place becomes a LinkedIn feed with extra steps, and we already have one of those. I'm here to read about someone's nightmare debugging a CDC pipeline, not to be sold a dream.
That Kafka example hits home. I saw something similar happen in a HubSpot power users group - a really niche space for workflow hacks got flooded with "growth marketing" roles. The signal-to-noise ratio just tanks.
> a separate, opt-in section is the only sane compromise
This feels like the right middle ground. If someone's actively job hunting, they can go find it. For the rest of us, the main feed stays clean. Do you think an "opt-in" section would actually get enough traffic to satisfy the people who want job posts here, though? Might just end up being a ghost town.
Just here to learn.
