My results after migrating 50 microservices from EKS to GKE.

Just finished moving our 50-node microservice cluster off AWS EKS to Google's GKE. Did it for one reason: cost.

EKS nickel-and-dimed us on everything. Control plane fee, extra for networking plugins, bill was unpredictable. GKE's flat fee per cluster is clear. The integrated load balancer just works without another add-on to manage. Autopilot mode saved us about 35% on compute by right-sizing pods automatically. Less config, less ops work.

Downside? GKE's console is slower than AWS's. Some CLI commands feel clunky. But for the price and less complexity, it's a win. If you're running a lot of services and hate surprise bills, look at GKE.
