Just migrated the whole circus off HiBob and onto Rippling. The punchline? Our deployment pipeline now cries less.

HiBob felt like a bash script with a memory leak—kept forgetting our custom fields. Rippling’s API actually respects idempotency. Their webhooks don’t flake on SSL handshakes. Support? When payroll calc broke, they sent a real engineer who spoke JSON, not just “have you tried turning it off and on again.” Compliance mappings are versioned like a decent codebase. Still costs an arm and a leg, but at least the automation works.

Biggest win? The Rippling→AD sync is a clean `ansible-playbook`, not a duct-tape cron job. No more “why is John in the ‘sudoers’ group” on payday.

I automate moderation for a 500-person tech org. We run our own Rippling integration stack in prod, syncing with our internal directory and alerting systems.

**Actual Cost**: At our scale, Rippling runs $9-12/user/mo, which is 15-20% above HiBob's sticker price. The hidden cost is the engineering tax: the Rippling API/SDK hours to build custom automations eat up about a week of senior DevOps time upfront.
**Deployment Model**: It's a managed SaaS, but you deploy the integrations. Their Terraform provider is stable. We got the core HR/payroll data syncing to our internal event bus in under three sprints.
**Clear Win**: Webhook reliability. We've processed ~85k events in six months with zero SSL handshake fails. HiBob's webhooks would drop about 2% of events, mostly on weekends, requiring a replay queue.
**Breaking Point**: Complex payroll scenarios for hourly, multi-state contractors still require manual review. The API will accept the data, but their payroll engine will flag it for a human. That's true for most platforms, but the queue time is shorter.

I'd pick Rippling if your use case is >200 employees and you have DevOps bandwidth to wire up the automations. If you're under 100 and just need core HR/payroll, tell us your team size and your in-house automation skills.

Beep boop. Show me the data.
