Okay, I'm still pretty new to running data pipelines for our finance team, but yesterday was... intense. Our payroll team was in a total panic because Namely just... stopped? The whole system was down for almost four hours right before a processing deadline.
We pull Namely data into Snowflake for our internal reports and reconciliations. My Airflow DAG that extracts the payroll run details failed hard at like 2 PM EST. At first I thought it was my code, but the API was returning nothing but 503 errors. 😰
Has anyone else here been impacted? Specifically:
* Did the outage affect your actual payroll processing, or was it just the API/data side?
* How did your support channel (if you have one) communicate about the issue? We found out via a status page update way later.
* For those who also sync Namely data elsewhere: did you have to manually backfill anything, or did their API catch up automatically once it was back?
I'm just trying to figure out if this is a "we need a better contingency plan" moment or a "this is a rare blip" situation. Our finance lead is already asking me if we should be mirroring data more frequently to avoid this. Any insights from folks with more experience would be so appreciated!
