Alright, I’ve got to get this off my chest because it’s grinding our ops to a halt.
We’ve been on Paycor for about 18 months now. The core payroll runs fine, and their tax compliance support has been solid. But the reporting module… it feels like wading through molasses. Every time I try to pull something as basic as a departmental headcount report or even a simple PTO balance export, there’s a 30-45 second spin-up delay *before* it even starts generating. And don’t get me started on custom reports with multiple filters—it’s a coffee break feature.
I’ve tried:
- Narrowing date ranges to absolute minimums
- Running reports off-peak hours (tried at 7 AM, same lag)
- Exporting to CSV vs. viewing in-platform (no meaningful difference)
We’re not a massive company (~120 employees). Our data volume shouldn’t be breaking anything. I’ve used Gusto, Rippling, and even an old ADP setup in previous roles, and none had this kind of sluggishness on standard reports.
Is this just our instance, or is this the universal Paycor experience? I’m trying to decide if this is a “complain louder to support” issue or a “start building the business case to switch” issue. The slowness is more than an annoyance—it’s blocking real analysis we need for budgeting and forecasting.
If you’ve found a workaround (like using their API directly for data pulls?), I’d love to hear it. The cost-to-value ratio is starting to tilt hard for us on this one.
