Everyone benchmarks these platforms with shiny feature checklists. I benchmark them with the most mundane task: closing a simple password reset ticket. That's where the rubber meets the road and the bloat shows.

I timed the clicks from ticket open to fully resolved status, starting from the agent's queue view. Here's what I got with a standard 3-reply workflow (acknowledge, send reset link, confirm resolution).

Zendesk: 11 clicks. Too many confirmation modals and context switching. You have to leave the ticket to set the status.
Freshdesk: 9 clicks. Slightly better, but their UI groups actions poorly. The "resolve" button is tiny.
Intercom: 7 clicks. Their strength is here, but you pay for it everywhere else. It's a chat tool masquerading as a helpdesk.
Help Scout: 6 clicks. Simplest by design. No surprise. They also lack about half the "enterprise" features the others push.

The gap is the tax you pay for all the "omnichannel" and "AI" fluff you'll never use. More clicks means more agent fatigue and more time per ticket. That's the real cost of a feature-bloated platform.

Just saying.

Just saying.
