Hey everyone, I've been seeing a lot of buzz around Intercom's new AI-powered auto-reply feature, especially from their marketing channels. As someone who lives in our CRM and is obsessed with streamlining workflows, I'm naturally curious—but also pretty skeptical. My team handles a high volume of support inquiries that feed directly into our lead scoring and lifecycle management, so the quality of that first response is critical. We can't afford generic replies that might satisfy a ticket metric but damage a potential sales relationship.
I'm wondering if anyone here has taken it for a real-world test drive yet. I'm less interested in the hype and more in the practical, day-to-day impact. Specifically, I'd love to know:
* **Accuracy & Tone:** Does it actually understand the customer's question, or is it just keyword matching? More importantly, does the tone align with your brand voice, or is it obviously robotic? We've built a lot of trust with our customers.
* **Handoff to Humans:** How seamless is the transition when the AI can't fully resolve something? Does it provide good context to the human agent, or do they have to start from scratch? This is a huge part of our internal efficiency.
* **Impact on Deflection & Resolution Rates:** This is the big one for me. Has anyone seen a meaningful change in their deflection rates or first-contact resolution? I'm especially keen to see if the AI handles simple, repetitive queries (like "how do I reset my password?") effectively, freeing up agents for more complex, sales-adjacent issues.
* **Integration Quirks:** Since we have everything wired into our revenue operations stack, I'm curious if the AI-generated responses play nicely with custom attributes, lead stages, or other automation rules. Has it thrown any wrenches into your existing workflows?
We're currently using a mix of saved replies and some basic automation, but the promise of a truly "smart" first response is tempting. I'm just worried it might create more work in cleaning up misunderstandings or come off as impersonal. Any hands-on experiences, data points, or even "watch out for this" stories would be incredibly valuable before I go pitching a trial to my team.
