Another day, another "which of these two giant vendor ecosystems is better" question. They're both sold as the all-in-one cure for construction's ills, especially for managing hundreds of subs and suppliers.
But the real question isn't which is "better." It's which one's particular flavor of financial opacity and integration headaches you're prepared to live with. Procore's strength is the project side, but its financials are an afterthought bolted on via acquisition. Sage's core is accounting, but its project modules often feel like a separate, clunkier world. For high vendor counts, you'll be evaluating:
* The true reliability of their AP automation when your invoices are scribbled on a coffee-stained napkin.
* How many clicks it *actually* takes to reconcile a purchase order, receipt, and invoice from the same vendor across projects.
* Whether their sync with your actual accounting system silently drops transactions or requires a full-time babysitter.
Everyone promises seamless workflow. The reality is usually a maze of workarounds. What's your actual accounting backbone, and how many "seamless" integrations have you already been burned by?
