Looking at this from an infrastructure-as-code and deployment pipeline perspective. A 200-user school district with multiple sites is a classic hub-and-spoke topology candidate for Versa.

The core requirement is repeatable, automated deployment across sites with minimal on-site tech overhead. You're managing networks, not snowflakes.

My recommendation is to treat each site as an environment in your CI/CD pipeline. Start with a centralized Versa Director and Controllers, then deploy Versa FlexVNFs (virtual appliances) at each school site. Avoid physical appliances unless you have specific hardware requirements or budget for them – the virtual form factor lets you template and version control the deployment.

Key pipeline considerations:

* **Configuration Management:** All Versa device configurations should be defined in declarative templates (Jinja2, YAML) stored in Git. Never configure via the GUI alone.
* **Deployment Automation:** Use Ansible or Terraform modules to push site-specific configurations from your central Controllers to the branch FlexVNFs. This should be triggered from your pipeline.
* **State Validation:** Your deployment pipeline must include a validation stage that checks for configuration drift and service health post-deployment. Think of it as a post-build verification step.

A simplified pipeline stage overview for rolling out a new site would look like:

```yaml
# Conceptual Pipeline Stage
stages:
- lint_configs
- deploy_to_director
- push_to_site_controller
- provision_flexvnf
- health_check
- integration_test
```

The biggest pitfall I see is treating each site as a manual operation. If you can't redeploy a site's network configuration from version-controlled sources with a single pipeline run, you're building future technical debt. Focus on getting the template for one site perfect, then replicate it.

For 200 users, bandwidth and appliance sizing is critical. Ensure your FlexVNF instance specs (vCPU, RAM) in the hypervisor (likely at a district data center or colo) are sized for the aggregate VPN, security, and SD-WAN traffic, especially if you're routing all web filtering back to a central point.
