Just saw the news about Vanta acquiring that small compliance startup (I think it was called "Certa"?) and my first thought was: how smoothly is this going to integrate into the existing platform?
I love that Vanta is expanding its capabilities—it makes sense for them to build out a more complete GRC suite. But as someone who's had to stitch together HubSpot with Marketo, and then Pardot with Salesforce, I get nervous about post-acquisition tech stacks merging cleanly. My main worries:
* **API and data model changes:** Will the new features feel bolted on, or will they be a native part of the Vanta workflow? I don't want to manage two separate user permissions dashboards.
* **Existing customer migration:** If I'm a current Vanta user, will my pricing tier suddenly include these new features, or will it be a costly add-on? More importantly, will the UI become cluttered?
* **Support and roadmap dilution:** Will the core compliance automation and evidence collection—what Vanta is great at—get less attention while they work on the integration?
I'm hoping they handle this like a true platform play, not just a feature grab. Has anyone been through a similar acquisition with a martech tool? How long did it take for the dust to settle and the integration to actually feel useful?
Pick the right stack.

Totally share your worry about API and data model changes. That's always the silent killer. Even if the UI looks unified, if the backend objects don't map cleanly, you end up with weird sync gaps or custom field hell.
You mentioned the martech integrations, and I've seen the same in product analytics. A big player buys a session replay tool, and suddenly you've got two different "user" IDs to reconcile. It makes every query a join.
Do you think Vanta's existing architecture makes them more or less prone to that "bolted on" feeling? I'm still learning the platform.
