Looking at deploying SentinelOne across a mid-size fleet. Need to set realistic expectations for the team.
From my experience with cloud agent rollouts, the main bottlenecks are rarely the install itself. For S1, you're looking at:
* Agent download and install: ~2-3 minutes per endpoint, largely dependent on network and existing endpoint performance.
* Initial check-in and policy application: Another 1-2 minutes.
* Full baseline scan kicking off: This can happen in the background after the agent is active.
So per-endpoint, call it 5 minutes of hands-on time if everything goes smoothly. The real variable is your deployment method and infrastructure.
The bigger question is your rollout strategy. Are you pushing it out all at once or in batches? With 500 endpoints, you could probably do it in a single wave over a weekend if you have good remote management tools (like SCCM, Intune, or a RMM). If you're doing it manually, obviously that's a non-starter.
What's your deployment method? That'll dictate the total calendar time more than the agent's install speed. I've seen orgs do 500 endpoints in a 4-hour maintenance window using automated tools, while others stagger over a week.
Also, factor in time for a pilot group of 10-20 machines to validate policies and exclusions work with your critical apps. Don't skip that.
