What's the best way to handle legacy client-server apps that don't like proxies?

Hi everyone, this is probably a super basic question, sorry in advance! 😅

We're looking at a SASE/SSE pilot, but I'm already stuck thinking about our old internal apps. You know the typeβ€”they're basically hardcoded to talk directly to a server IP and have no concept of a proxy. I handle our WordPress sites and some basic analytics, so this networking stuff is new to me.

What's the usual path here? Do you have to put those apps (and their servers) outside the SSE tunnel, or is there a way to make them behave? I'm worried about creating security gaps just to keep old things running. Any real-world tips would be a lifesaver.
