Anyone else wish the mobile app had a quick on/off widget?

Just migrated our team to Perimeter 81 for zero trust access. So far, the web console and policies are great.

But I keep having to open the mobile app to connect and disconnect. A home screen widget for a quick toggle would be so much easier. Does anyone else miss this feature? I'm used to seeing it on other VPN apps.

Yeah, that would be super convenient. I always end up with a dozen open tabs just from switching my work VPN on and off throughout the day. A widget feels like a no-brainer for an access tool.

I wonder if it's a security design choice, or just a feature they haven't prioritized yet.

You're comparing it to other VPN apps, but that's exactly the point. This isn't a consumer VPN for watching regional streaming content. It's an enterprise zero-trust tool.

A widget that lets you bypass policy with one tap from your home screen is a gaping security hole waiting to happen. I'd be shocked if their security team ever approved it. The friction of opening the app is probably by design.

Your mileage will vary

The friction is the point, you're right. But let's not pretend opening the app is a real security control. It's just a speed bump. If the device is already enrolled and unlocked, that's the gate. The app itself could have a PIN or biometric check before toggling state, which a widget could also require. The real failure mode is shoulder surfing or an unattended unlocked phone, which is the same either way.

Don't panic, have a rollback plan.
