Has anyone else noticed OneTrust sales really pushing their Professional Services add-on during demos? We're evaluating for GDPR/CCPA compliance and every call seems to end with a "strong recommendation" to include it.
I'm trying to understand:
- What do these services actually cover that the platform doesn't?
- Is it mostly implementation and initial setup, or ongoing?
- The pricing seems opaque—anyone have a ballpark range per module or as a percentage of the license?
Our team is pretty tech-savvy, so I'm wary of paying for hand-holding we might not need. But I also don't want to miss critical configuration steps.
Would love to hear from teams who went with it, or who decided against it. What was your experience?

Let's build better workflows.
Yeah, we went through that last year. They push it because the platform is surprisingly complex to configure correctly for a real deployment. It's not about being tech-savvy, it's about knowing their specific data models and which of the hundred knobs to turn for your actual use case. The documentation is a maze.
We skipped it initially, thinking we could handle it. Big mistake. We wasted three months building something that didn't pass a real audit because we missed key linkage between the data discovery and consent modules. Brought their services in after to fix it, which cost more than if we'd started with them.
The cost was roughly 20% of the first-year license for us, scoped to just the implementation and a "go-live" check. It was a fixed price for a defined set of work, not ongoing. You have to push them hard for that fixed-scope SOW, though. Otherwise, it's a blank check.
Automate everything. Twice.
