Hi everyone, I've been reading up on data governance platforms for my company. We're a mid-sized SaaS business starting to get serious about privacy regulations and just organizing our data better. It seems like every comparison points to OneTrust and Privacera as top contenders.

From what I can gather, Privacera gets a lot of praise for its technical, hands-on data access controls and being great for data engineers. That makes sense to me. But then I see OneTrust everywhere, and it's clearly the bigger name. I'm trying to cut through the marketing.

If Privacera is so strong on the engineering side, where does OneTrust actually win? Is it just because they were first in privacy? I'm specifically curious about real-use cases. For example, is OneTrust significantly better for actually managing privacy requests from customers (DSARs), or for cookie consent on our website? Or is it about tying governance back to legal compliance workflows that non-engineers (like our legal and compliance team) can use?

I’m worried about choosing a platform that’s too technical if we need broader team adoption. Any insights from your experiences would be so helpful! 😅
