Hi everyone, I'm still pretty new to managing the security and performance side of our e-commerce store (we use Shopify, but have some custom apps). We're growing and my boss is looking at solutions like Imperva and Akamai.
I've been reading a ton of specs, but I'm really struggling to picture what the day-to-day management is like for a smaller team. We don't have a dedicated security engineer.
So for those who have used one or both, which platform is actually easier to live with on a daily basis? 😅
I'm thinking about things like:
- If there's a false positive blocking a customer, how quickly can I fix it?
- How intuitive is it to set up a new rule or adjust settings when we're running a big promotion?
- Is the dashboard something you can learn without weeks of training?
- For basic reporting—like seeing top threats or blocked traffic—is the info clear?
We want to be protected, but I'm the one who will be logging in most days to check things. I'm worried about choosing something so powerful that it becomes a full-time job just to manage it. Any insights from your real-world experience would be so helpful.
