Hi everyone, I’ve been tasked with researching identity governance solutions for my company. We’re a mid-sized retail chain with about 500 employees and a mix of seasonal workers. We use Microsoft 365 heavily, so Entra ID (Azure AD) is already in place for core authentication.
I’m curious about using it as our main *governance* tool for 2026 planning. We need to handle access reviews, role management for our point-of-sale and inventory systems, and ensure compliance. The vendor landscape is pretty crowded with specialized tools, but staying within the Microsoft ecosystem seems logical.
Can anyone share real-world experience using Entra ID Governance for a similar mid-market retail setup? I’m particularly wondering about:
- How well the access review workflows handle high-turnover roles, like seasonal staff.
- The complexity and cost scaling when managing non-Microsoft applications.
- Any major pitfalls or gaps compared to dedicated vendors like SailPoint or Okta.
We’re trying to balance capability with budget, and I’ve heard the licensing can get complex. Just looking for some practical insights before we dive deeper into evaluations 😅. Thanks in advance!
We looked at Entra ID Governance last year for a similar size setup. The access reviews for seasonal roles worked okay, but setting up the lifecycle workflows felt a bit rigid compared to what we expected.
I'd be curious what you find about the licensing, too. I heard you might need extra P2 licenses for certain governance features on top of what you already have. It got confusing for us pretty fast, honestly. Good luck with the research!
