Okay, who else has been down this rabbit hole? 🕳️ I’ve been evaluating Defender for Endpoint for a potential client automation project, and trying to get a straight answer on pricing feels like negotiating through fog.
I’ve talked to two different sales reps and gotten three different quotes. One was per-user, another was per-device, and a third mentioned a "core services" add-on that wasn't in the first two PDFs. The public "starting at" price is, of course, useless for real planning.
My specific hangups:
- Is the difference between Plan 1 and Plan 2 *just* the attack surface reduction rules and some automation bits, or are there API/audit log depth differences too?
- The integration with our existing Azure tenant and other Microsoft 365 APIs — does that affect cost, or is it just a licensing gate?
- What's the real per-device cost at ~500 endpoints? Not the list price, the actual price.
Has anyone here actually navigated to a clear, final quote without a dozen calls? I'm looking for the kind of detail where I can map cost to specific API endpoints and automation capabilities. Love the tool's depth, but the buying process seems stuck in the old enterprise playbook.
