So you went with the "Mercedes-Benz of EDR" because the sales deck was slick and your CISO has a thing for brand names. After a year of living with it, here's the real deal.

The good: It works. It catches bad stuff. The correlation engine is genuinely smart, and the automated response playbooks are solid once you tune them. We sleep a bit better.

The bad: You'll need a dedicated admin to manage it. The UI is a labyrinth of "why is that setting here?" The resource footprint on endpoints is... noticeable. And the bill? Let's just say it cost an arm and a leg, and the support team moves at the speed of continental drift.

The ugly: Their idea of "API-first" and yours will differ. Automating anything feels like you're fighting the platform. My advice? Build your own dashboards and reporting from day one. Don't drink their Kool-Aid on the native portal for everything.

It's a powerful tool, but it's a high-maintenance relationship. You're not just buying a product; you're buying into Palo Alto's entire ecosystem. If you're ready for that commitment and have the budget, it's a strong contender. If you're a lean team wanting something nimble, look elsewhere.
