Saw the usual hype about Auth0 handling "millions" of requests. Decided to test it myself. Scripted 100k concurrent login attempts against a tenant, ramped up over 5 minutes.

The dashboard metrics didn't match our internal APM spans. Latency jumped from ~200ms to over 2 seconds, and we saw a 15% error rate on the /oauth/token endpoint. Errors were mostly 429s, but also some 502s from their load balancer. Their "real-time" logs were delayed by 90 seconds. So much for incident response. If you're banking on their SLOs for a critical user-facing flow, good luck.
