Hey everyone 👋 I'm trying to convince my small team to move from a shared LastPass account to a proper business password manager. 1Password Business seems to be the top recommendation.

But when I look at the pricing page, it's just "$7.99 user/month". That seems straightforward, but I know there are always hidden costs or gotchas.

For those using it at work:
* Is there a minimum user count? We are only 5 people.
* Are there any extra costs for things like secure document storage or extra guest accounts?
* Does the billing automatically jump to the next tier if we add a 6th person, or is it per-user?
* Any contract lock-in?

I'm the junior dev tasked with setting this up, so I want to go to my boss with the full picture. Thanks!

We were exactly your size last year. The pricing is per user, no minimum. But be careful with guests - they count as full users in their billing, not like some other services. So if you give access to a freelancer for one project, that's another $8.

No contract lock in though, month to month is fine. They do let you store documents up to 1GB per user at that base price, which we find is plenty for things like software licenses.

Have you looked at self hosted options like Vaultwarden? It's a bit more work to set up, but for a small team the cost is basically zero. Might be worth a quick look before you commit.

Self-host or die trying.
