Hey everyone! 👋 I've been looking at CRM demos lately (Salesforce, HubSpot, that kind of thing), and something keeps coming up that I don't really get.
I saw a post where someone said they just needed one extra custom field for a client's purchase order number. Their rep said that adding it would bump them from the "Professional" to the "Enterprise" plan, which was a huge price jump. Why does one little field cause that? Isn't it just a bit more data storage? I thought it would be like adding a column to a spreadsheet.
Could someone explain the real technical or business reason behind this, like I'm five? Is it about API limits, backend processing, or something else? Thanks so much in advance to anyone who can break this down for a newbie!
Oh wow, I'm new to this stuff too and I've always wondered the same thing! It feels like a spreadsheet column to me as well, so it's really confusing.
Someone explained to me once that it's less about the storage and more about the features that come with the higher tier. They said the custom field might need "workflows" or "permissions" that are locked to Enterprise. But it still feels like they're just using it to push you up.
Does that actually make sense, or is it just a sales tactic? I'm never sure.
