Help: Our Pardot instance is a spaghetti bowl of automations. How do you even start to audit it?

Okay, so I've been there. You log into Pardot and it's like a maze of completion actions, rules, and connectors. Everything *seems* to work, but you're terrified to touch anything.

Here's how I'd start the audit, assuming your main goal is stability and maybe improving lead flow speed (CWV for your forms, right? 😉).

First, export *everything*. Use the connector overview, get all automation rules, completion actions, and segmentation lists into a spreadsheet. Then, map the triggers. For each rule, note: what triggers it (form, score, list, etc.) and its *immediate* actions. Don't follow the rabbit hole yet, just the first step. This shows you your entry points.

Second, look for redundancy. A huge culprit is multiple rules firing on the same form submission with similar goals. Merge those. Also, flag any rules with more than, say, 5 actionsβ€”they're probably doing too much.

Third, check for "zombie" automations tied to old forms or campaigns that are no longer active. Kill those.

My bias? I always check for performance hitsβ€”like automations that trigger external webhooks with high latency. They can slow down your entire sync.
