Hi everyone. I recently needed a logo for a small monitoring tool side project. 😅

I tried both Fiverr and DesignCrowd to compare. My main need was **control over the process**β€”clear briefs, direct feedback, and not getting stuck with a single designer's style.

Here's what I found:

**Fiverr:**
* You pick a specific freelancer. Communication is 1-on-1.
* Control feels high if you vet well, but you're locked into that person's vision. Revisions depend on their gig package.
* My experience: I gave a detailed brief with my color palette ideas (used a hex code from my Grafana dash! `#5794F2`). The designer followed it but was slow to iterate beyond the first concept.

**DesignCrowd:**
* You post a contest, many designers submit entries.
* You get many styles to choose from initially, which is great. Feedback is public on each design.
* But, managing feedback for 50+ entries is overwhelming. Felt like I was managing a mini-Prometheus alert queue! You direct comments to each designer, but they're also seeing your feedback to others.

So, which platform gave *me* more control? For a detailed, back-and-forth collaboration on a single vision, **Fiverr** with the right seller. For broad creative exploration at the start, **DesignCrowd**. But the contest model can make precise, directed control harder later on.

Would love to hear if others had a different experience, especially with setting clear requirements.
