Has anyone done a cost-benefit analysis for Claw on a 50-engineer team?

Hi everyone! I've been deep in the weeds evaluating Claw for my team, and I keep circling back to the cost question. We're a team of about 50 engineers, mostly working in a microservices environment on AWS, with a stack that includes Kubernetes, Terraform, and a growing number of data pipelines.

We're looking at Claw primarily for its workflow automation and orchestration capabilities to replace a patchwork of scripts and Jenkins jobs. The promise of better visibility and reduced toil is huge. But the pricing model feels... significant for a team our size.

I'm trying to build a realistic cost-benefit picture and would love to hear from others who've been through this:

* **Licensing vs. Engineering Time:** How did you quantify the time saved on debugging failed pipelines or building manual approvals versus the annual license cost?
* **Hidden Setup & Maintenance:** Was the internal cost of onboarding and maintaining Claw (including training) higher than anticipated? We're only considering the SaaS option.
* **Alternative Consideration:** Did you run a parallel evaluation on a self-hosted/open-source alternative (like Airflow or Prefect) and, if so, what made Claw worth the premium for you?

Our gut feeling is that the benefit might tip towards "benefit" if it seriously improves our deployment reliability and frees up senior dev time. But I'd love some real-world data or even your anecdotal experience on what you actually gained (or didn't) after implementation. Thanks in advance—you all are the best for sharing this kind of practical insight

Oh I'm actually looking at this from a similar size team! We didn't do a formal analysis, but the >hidden setup & maintenance< part is what caught us off guard.

Even with SaaS, we spent a surprising amount of upfront engineering time just mapping our existing workflows into Claw's model. The training cost was real, too. We had to pay for a couple of "power user" sessions to get everyone comfortable.

It's definitely saving time now, but that initial hump took like two months before we saw any benefit. Did your vendor give you good support during that phase, or was it mostly on you to figure out?

That initial hump is real! We had a similar experience. Our vendor support was decent for basic setup, but the real cost came from the internal discussions and decisions needed to fit our processes into their model.

We ended up creating a small internal "template library" for common workflow patterns. It cut down the confusion for new teams adopting it later. Have you tried anything like that to smooth the ongoing adoption after those first two months?
